Music Weeks Begins Today - How will YOU get there?

Written by Nancy Colvin. Posted in Low Carb Columbus Blog

Music WeekThere will be an insane number of amazing bands to see over the next four days. In addition to Independents' Day on Saturday, Music week, brought to you by CD102.5, Columbus Alive and Kaplan Artist Group, begins today! This is a multiple-venue music extravaganza in Old North Columbus, and I must admit that I am quite excited!

Fortunately, Old North is an easy neighborhood to access via alternative transportation. The Olentangy River Trail runs parallel to High St and is only a block away in this area. The COTA #2 goes right by KOBO & Ravari Room on High St, while COTA #4 goes by Rumba Cafe on Summit St . To make it even easier COTA #81 connects these two streets via Hudson so you can shuttle back and forth. If you wanted to make a bus adventure out of it, you could purchase a day pass for $4, which is much less than gas + time spent looking for parking + towing if you park in the wrong spot + not having to pay for a designated driver, etc. etc. etc. Of course, if the weather is permitting, it is not a bad walk to and from any of these venues.

The tough part is that these shows start later in the evening. The true Low Carb(on) challenges lies tonight and tomorrow night. If you don't live nearby and are taking the COTA, the last bus to catch home will be around midnight. I do admit it, it can be scary to bike late at night as well. There are some neighborhood streets that are better than others, too. For example, coming from downtown, I would probably bike over to Front Street and then to Neil Avenue and explore OSU campus some while riding north rather than bike on High St. The same goes for me heading south to get home. Of course, I am not sure how many individuals will be out that late, but these may be "special occasion" nights to share a cab (if you stay out past midnight on a Wednesday or Thursday).

On Friday night, the COTA #21 Night Owl will be running so that night will be a given. We will be taking the COTA #21 Night Owl to Kobo for the Phantods and Deluka around 10PM. But we won't get too crazy on Friday night - we have Independents' Day 2011 on Saturday!
